Bhubaneswar: Heralding a new era in sports development, particularly Cricket, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will today launch a slew of sports projects today. The Chief Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the transformation of the historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Earlier few days back, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian had visited the Barabati Stadium and discussed the proposed transformation of the Stadium. The state government, BCCI and OCA will jointly start the development work of Barabati. According to reports, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate 42 cricket academies set up by the Odia Cricket Association across the 30 districts of the state. While Rs 600 crore will be spent on the renovation of the Barabati Stadium, arrangements will be made to create 60,000 seating capacity.
The new stadium will have state-of-the-art facilities along with a huge sports complex. A modern gymnasium will also be constructed. The construction of the new stadium is expected to be completed within three years.
CM Naveen will also launch big sporting infrastructure across the state. He will lay the foundation stone of the redevelopment of the VSS Cricket Stadium Sambalpur, inaugurate Cricket Stadium in Puri, Berhampur, and Jajpur along with other facilities in the integrated sporting complexes. The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the Women’s Cricket Academy at Puri and Jharsuguda on this occasion.
The Chief Minister will also inaugurate India’s largest Weightlifting Facility at Berhampur today.
