Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Model prison in Jamujhari today. It will be the largest and first eco-friendly prison in the state surrounded by a green belt. The prison will be built on 50 acres of land. The proposed prison will be constructed in ashram structure. The Model jail will be built under the aegis of 5T Initiatives and technology oriented facilities such as digital payment, biometric base canteen, e-courtroom, advanced TI room etc will be available.
Once the construction is completed, the prisoners will be kept in different wards in the prison. Various correctional programs will be made available for reformation and rehabilitation of the prisoners in the jail. Also, the prisoners will be given education and vocational training. In the first phase, 2500 prisoners will be kept in this model prison.
