Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved the proposed master plan for transformation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla.
As per the master plan, arrangements will be made for more 10,000 students to study in 24 undergraduate departments by 2026. The State Government will spend Rs 2000 crore in three phases for the transformation of this institute.
According to this master plan, the VSSUT will be developed as a Multi-Disciplinary Engineering & Research University by 2030. It will be at par with the premier engineering institutes of the country like IITs and NITs. It will have 7 schools like School of Engineering, Skill Development Centre, School of Medical Technology and School of Basic Science.
Currently 2849 students are studying in various courses at VSSUT. As per the master plan, arrangements will be made for 10,864 students to study in the institution. As many as 24 engineering programs, more than 14 departments and more than 27 centers of excellence will be set up in seven schools. Each school will have classrooms, laboratories, professors’ chambers and galleries. State-of-the-art research centres and laboratory facilities will be available in all schools.
Notably, on the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and 5T Secretary VK Pandian had visited VSSUT on August 25 and advised to prepare a master plan to develop it as a center of excellence.
