Cuttack: In a significant development, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today restricted the number of participants in marriages and funerals in view of recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
According to an order issued by the CMC, the number of participants in marriage functions has been restricted to 100 while the maximum number of participants in funeral will be 50.
Besides the CMC has also prohibited events and gatherings related to promotional activities, conferences and conclaves.
Here are the guidelines:
For marriage related functions the maximum number of persons allowed are 100 with strict adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour and maintenance of social distancing.
For death rituals related functions the maximum number of persons allowed are 50 with adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour and social distancing.
The following kinds of functions are strictly prohibited until further order
-Events and gatherings related to Promotional Activities/Conferences/Conclaves etc
-Centenary/ Golden Jubilee/Silver Jubilee etc celebrations of institutions
-Annual Events/Annual Functions of Educational and other institutions
For other kinds of social gatherings the host shall have to obtain specific permission from CMC which will be given keeping in view the requirement of the host and prevailing pandemic situation subject to maximum participants ceiling of 100 persons.
This order will be implemented with effect from 06.04.2021.
Speaking to Thenewsroom.co.in, CMC Commissioner Ananya Das said that there is no big surge in Covid-19 cases in CMC area. The fresh guidelines are only prohibitory measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus. However, the administration is fully ready to deal with any situation, she added.
