Cold Wave to Sweep Odisha, Collectors Asked to Keep Close Watch

Bhubaneswar: With the Meteorological office here today warned cold wave situation likely to prevail over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Mayurbhanj and Balasore during the next 72 hours, the Special Relief Commissioner, has asked all district Collectors to keep a close watch over the situation and take appropriate steps to deal with the cold wave situation.

As per the press release issued by Bhubaneswar Met office, the night temperature (minimum temperature) is very likely to fall gradually by 4° to 6°C over these districts during the next 2-3 days.”

“Dense fog very is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of North Odisha and Kandhamal. Puri. Khurda, Sonepur, and Kalahandi on 27-28 Dec 2019 and in the districts of Coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Angul on 27-28 Dec 2019,” the press note further mentioned.

Here are the instructions for the Collectors to be taken
Necessary advisory with do’s and donot’s to protect the human beings and livestock from cold wave may be widely circulated.
People having no proper house may be allowed to take shelter during night hours in schools and other public buildings.

Steps should to be taken for proper management of night shelters in urban areas to provide accommodation to homeless and needy visitors.

Necessary steps to be taken by police and officials of the transport department for controlled plying of vehicles in fog affected areas.
