Puri: The Puri district administration today sealed several government offices and declared containment zone for area from Harihar Chhak to Town Hall for massive contact tracing following the detection of fresh COVID-19 positive cases.
In a statement, Puri Collector Balwant Singh said that the containment zone order has been issued for the premises of Civil Court, Tahasil Office, Sub-Collector Office, DRDA, Collectorate Puri as precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Besides, the area from Harihar Chhak to Town Hall has been declared as containment zone, he said.
Notably, one positive case of COVID-19 has been reported in the premises of District Civil Court on June 16. Besides, three accused persons who were produced in the Court during the period from June 11 to 15, also tested positive for the virus.
Similarly, one lawyer coming to the Civil Court has also been tested positive which may lead to further possible spread of COVID-19 and in exigency of such situation, it is highly essential to declare the said area as containment zone, Singh said.
The containment restrictions will remain in force till further order, he added.
The total number of COVID cases in Puri district is 174, of which 72 are the active cases. As many as 102 patients have recovered from the disease, as per the Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department.
