‘COVAXIN’ Likely to Be Available by End of 2020: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi: India’s first indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine, COVAXIN is likely to be available by the end of 2020, informed Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the Health Minister said that the efficacy of the India-made vaccines, upon completion of trials, would be known by the end of the year.

The Oxford’s vaccine was already being processed on a parallel end to reduce the time required to market it, he added.

COVAXIN is an inactivated vaccine developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.

The human trials of ‘COVAXIN’ had begun two weeks back and could be available by the end of 2020, the Minister said.
