New Delhi: As many as 35,043 persons have been infected by coronavirus (COVID-19) so far in India, according to the Health Ministry.
8889 patients have recovered after treatment and discharged from the hospitals, while 1147 patients have died, the Ministry said.
A staggering 1,993 new cases were recorded in last 24 hours.
Maharashtra accounted for nearly half of Thursday’s national COVID-19 count. As many as 583 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the state. With this, Maharashtra COVID-19 count increased to 10,498.
On Thursday, the state recorded over 15 deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 459. Maharashtra became the first state to witness 10,000 coronavirus cases.
