Bhubaneswar: Even as the lockdown is hitting hard to poorer section of the society, the Odisha Government today provided food to 3,02,302 destitute and helpless persons in 5217 Gram Panchayats, said Odisha Government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi.
While briefing the media about steps taken by the State Goverment for prevention of COVID-19, Baghi said that as many as 6404 SHGs are engaged in preparing food.
While, in 105 ULBs 22,293 persons have been provided with food. Food and accommodation have been ensured through 407 camps for around 27000 Guest Workers’ from outside the State stranded in Odisha. These workers are primarily from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, MP and Uttar Pradesh.

In another significant development, 500 MBBS students in Odisha have been given COVID-19 online training as approved by Government of India.
From the morning of 2nd April to the morning of 3rd April, 263 no of cases have been registered by the Police in the state for different violations of regulations and guidelines related to COVID-19. This include 254 no. of cases for violation of lock down, 3 cases for violation of ‘Home Quarantine’ and 6 for other issues.
Health Update
Up to 12 noon today, 1113 samples have been tested.
Number of Positive Cases stands at 6. Two persons being cured have been discharged from Hospital 124 contacts of 3rd and 4th case have been identified.
30 contacts of 5th case have been traced. 6th positive is reported to be a resident of Cuttack. Investigation is carried on to trace his contacts. 60 persons are under Hospital Isolation today in different hospitals.
Nizamudin Update
From among 27 retumces from Hazrat Nizamuddin, 7 persons are foreigners. 21 cases have tested negative in COVID-19 test while sample of one person is positive. Report of 5 persons have not been received.
