COVID-19: Odisha Prepares Database of 2.95 Lakh Healthcare Workers for Vaccination

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has prepared a database of little over 2.95 lakh frontline workers including healthcare workers by 1st November, who would be given COVID-19 vaccine on a priority basis, official sources said on Monday.

The state government has sought the cooperation of different associations to create the database before introducing the vaccination programme.

The government has also decided to enroll Anganwadi workers for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

According to data, as many as 3,463 institutions (facilities) have created a database of 2,95,349 health care workers which is 98% of the total targeted health professionals.

While Cuttack district has created database of  highest number of health care workers (HCW) with 24, 148.Similarly, Deogarg district have the pool of 2677 registered HCW.

It is anticipated that Covid-19 vaccine may soon be available and the Govt of India has communicated for preparedness for introduction of new vaccine and creation of a database of Healthcare Workers (HCW) in both Govt and Private health settings.

The health department has also suggested associations to communicate to the members to contact the district collectors/ municipal corporation commissioners, chief district medical and public health officers for enrolling all health care workers in the database.
