Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Monday directed to suspend hearings till March 31 with immediate effect in the wake of lockdown enforced in five districts and eleven towns to tackle the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
As per an order of the High Court, the cases listed on March 23 (today) have been suspended and no further listing will be made upto March 31.However, the urgent matters can be mentioned before the Deputy Registrar (Judl.) through WhatsApp message or video call, the HC said.
The Court also urged the Registry to ensure that a vehicle and doctor with his team will remain available round the clock. The Registry has also been directed to deploy the staff on rotation basis considering the need of work.
The Odisha Government has called for a lockdown in five districts, such as Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam, Kendrapara and Angul and towns including Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Jajpur Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Brajarajnagar, Nabarangpur and Umerkote till 9.00 pm on March 29 to fight the COVID-19.
