COVID-19 Vaccine to Arrive in Odisha Within 10 Days, Vaccination Not Mandatory For All Health Workers, Says DMET

Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 vaccines will be available in Odisha within 10 days and it won’t be mandatory for all health workers for vaccination, Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty today.

Speaking to media, Mohanty said, “Covid-19 vaccines will be available in Odisha within 10 days.”

When asked about the vaccination drive, he said, “There is no mandatory provision that all health workers will be vaccinated. It is upto the health workers whether he/she opt for vaccination.”

He further said, the Union Health Secretary has informed about the arrival of vaccines in Odisha within 10 days, and the vaccination will begin in the state in a couple of days.

Mohanty further said the two COVID-19 vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin – will be given in two doses. The second does will be administered four weeks after the first dose, he added.

Meanwhile, the Centre has asked the Odisha government to remain prepared for the drive.
