Bhubaneswar: In another milestone in creating world class sporting infrastructure in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will today inaugurate the state of the art world class Tennis Center at the Kalinga Stadium Complex in Bhubaneswar. This will be Odisha’s first Tennis Centre which is an International Tennis Federation recognized court and has all the modern facilities to host international events. It has a seating capacity of 1500 spectators.
The State Government has built the Tennis centre at the Kalinga Stadium as part of its efforts to promote Odisha as the sports capital of India. The Tennis Center will host the ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championship Tournament that will be held from April 4th to 14th which will see participation of players from 15 countries. The Tennis Center also has a world class Conference room, Lounge, Medical room, Tournament Director’s room, Broadcast room, Media Center and Dressing room. This advanced Court is in addition to the other ten courts that have a mix of six synthetic and four clay courts. It is likely that Odisha will also bid to host the prestigious Davis Cup in Bhubaneswar that will be held in the coming September.
