Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to set up a multi-agency control room for tackling cyclone Fani.
The decision was taken during a review meeting for rescue and evacuation under the chairmanship of Works Secretary Krishan Kumar at the BMC Conference Hall this afternoon.
The control room consisting agencies like BMC, BDA, Smart City, Fire Service, PWD, PHEO, Energy and Health and Family Welfare will ensure delivery of civic amenities during and after the cyclone.
The civic body has also introduced two numbers i.e. 0674-2431253 and 18003450061 for registering complaints by the city residents.
Officials said that the city has been divided into 13 sectors and each sector will be managed by an OAS officer (sector officer) with an engineer (civil) and another from drainage. “The sector officer will have the power to take a call on emergency situations and recommend appropriate actions as per the requirement,” said a BMC official.
Concerned officials have been asked to ensure backup power supply for drinking water and hospital emergencies. “There will be two cyclone shelters in a ward where the evacuated people would be given temporary shelter.
In the cyclone shelters there would be adequate supply of medicine and food along with cooked/dry food as per availability,” said a BMC official.
