Bhubaneswar: In view of impending cyclone Yaas, the Odisha Government has cancelled the holidays and leaves of its employees in order to manage human resource, materials and logistics for the areas likely to be affected by the disaster.
In view of the emergent situation, all the government holidays have been cancelled till May 31 and the officials have been urged to stay in respective headquarters and in no case, shall be permitted to leave Hqrs. without express permission of the authority, the General Administration & Public Grievance Department said.
Leave availed by all the government employees is cancelled and Government employees on leave, have been urged to join back in duty forthwith. This shall take immediate effect, an order issued by the department said.
The IMD has informed that a low pressure area has been formed over east-central Bay of Bengal on 22nd May2021, which is likely to intensify into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm by 24th May, 2021 and reach West Bengal & north Odisha around evening of 26th May, 2021. This cyclonic storm is likely to severely affect the coastal as well as the adjoining Districts.
In order to expedite pre-cyclonic arrangements and ensure post cyclonic rescue/relief operations in the vulnerable districts and to facilitate unaffected districts and State level offices to provide human resource, material and logistics support to the affected districts, it is imperative that all the State Government offices and officials remain in a state of readiness, the General Administration & Public Grievance Department said.
