6500 Pregnant and Expecting Mothers with EDD before June 1 Identified for Shifting
Bhubaneswar: In line with its zero casualty mission, the Odisha Government is targeting to evacuate all vulnerable people to safer places by tomorrow afternoon in the possible affected districts ahead of cyclonic storm Yaas, which is likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Island around Balasore, during noon of May 26.
Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep K Jena said that directives have been given to evacuate people from today and the evacuation drive should be complete by tomorrow afternoon.
He further said that the over 6500 pregnant and expecting mothers with expected delivery date before June 1 have been identified for shifting to hospitals on priority for smooth management of pregnancy related health issues.
He also said that adequate arrangements in terms of evacuation, infrastructure, shelters along with drinking water have been made in view of the cyclone.
As per the latest IMD report, the cyclonic storm Yaas moves north-northwestwards with a speed of about 04 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred about 520 km south-southeast of Paradip, 620 km south-southeast of Balasore & 610 km south-southeast of Digha.
