Cyclonic Circulation Forms over South Andaman Sea: IMD

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has formed over South Andaman Sea and its neighborhood and extended up to mid-tropospheric levels, said the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar of the IMD on Wednesday.

A low-pressure area will be formed with the effect of the possible cyclonic circulation on May 6 which is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours, the IMD said.

It is very likely to cause heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Nicobar Islands on May 4 and 5 and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Andaman Islands on May 6 and 7.
Squally wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal on May 4 and 5.

Similarly, squally wind (speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) likely to prevail over Andaman Sea & adjoining Southeast and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal on May 6.

Squally wind (speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph) over Eastcentral BoB & adjoining north Andaman Sea May 7, the IMD predicted.
