Mumbai: The center of Nisarga moved northeastwards and crossed Maharashtra coast close to south of Alibagh AND lay centered at 1.30 pm over coastal Maharashtra close to south-southeast of Alibagh and 80 km south-southeast of Mumbai., IMD said in its latest bulletin.
However, the rear part of wall cloud region is still over the sea and the landfall process will be completed by next 1 hr. It is likely to move northeastwards and weaken into a cyclonic storm during next 6 hours, it added.

Earlier, it intensified into a severe cyclonic storm today morning and headed towards the Maharashtra and South Gujarat coasts. Coastal districts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli have been put on alert in view of the situation and section 144 has been imposed on the coastal regions of Mumbai. Meanwhile, Maharastra, South Gujarat, Goa and Daman have received heavy rainfall.
The Cyclonic storm which is coming at a time when the Corona virus Pandemic has hit hard to Maharashtra, has doubled the headache for the administration. More than 100,000 people, have been moved to safer places. Cyclone Nisarga is about 150 km south-southwest off Mumbai coast and about 105 km south-southwest off Alibaug.
