Berhampur: Digapahandi Police foiled a dacoity bid and nabbed three criminals near Ghodahada Dam road carrying weapons at the wee hours on Thursday.
Based on credible information at 2.00 am on November 17 regarding assembly of some persons inside the rest shed of Kainthakhandi village on Ghodahada Dam road with sword, knife, live bombs and other deadly weapons with plan to commit dacoity from passerby people, a team of Digapahandi led by SI G. Sahu immediately rushed to the spot.
At the sight of the police from proximity, the culprits started running. However, after a short chase the cops were able to nab three criminals while two others fled away.
The arrested persons have been identified as Kuru alias Kurupati Bhuyan (32), Sangram Keshari Bhuyan (25) and Tofan Gouda (30). All are from Digapahandi.
Police also seized three live bombs, two knifes, one sword, three masks and one motor cycle and other items.
During interrogation, they revealed that they had assembled near Kainthakhandi village on Ghodahada dam road side during odd hour of night armed with, live bombs, sword and were preparing to commit dacoity.
Further investigation underway to arrest the criminals who managed to escape, the police said.
