Talcher: Odisha Development Commissioner Suresh Mahapatra and 5T Secretary VK Pandian today visited Talcher, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur to take stock of the preparedness in view of Coronavirus.
The senior officials reviewed the corona pandemic situation and steps taken by the district administration to deal with the COVID-19. The 150 bedded standalone Covid hospital in Talcher will be operational in few days. The state government in association with the Odisha Mining Corporation is setting up the hospital. Angul District Collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
The Development Commissioner and 5T Secretary also visited the Dhenkanal Covid Hospital and reviewed the preparedness. They interacted with Collector Bhumesh Chandra Behera and other health officials of the district. The Dhenkanal Hospital has 100 beds equipped with all advanced medical care. The government of Odisha with the OMC has set up the hospital.
In Jagatsinghpur, the visiting officers, reviewed the Covid Hospital in Paradip and discussed the situation with the district administration officials including Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra and other health officials.
During the review in the districts, both Development Commissioner and 5T Secretary have stressed upon strict implementation of the lockdown. They have also instructed the district administration to look after the revival of the livelihood of the poor people through various programs such as MGNREGS. They also instructed the officials to maintain social distance at any cost to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. They also advised the district officials to take care of the migrant labourers stranded in these places.
