Bhubaneswar: The flow of Mahanadi flood waters at Munduli is slowly decreasing and stood at 10.26 Cusecs currently. The inflow into Hirakud Dam has also come down to about 4 lakh 40 thousand cusecs today. The outflow currently stands at 6. 7 lakh Cusecs. The decision to close some gates of the Hirakud Dam will be taken today afternoon.
Briefing the media, SRC Pradeep Kumar Jena has said that the low pressure is likely to be on low intensity and we are expecting rains of upto 40 mm in the state due to the low pressure. There have been seven breaches in the Mahanadi system and no new no new breaches have been reported since yesterday evening. Keeping in mind the flood water management necessities, some gates of the Hirakud Dam are likely to be closed. District Collectors can take as many rescue boats as per their requirement to safely evacuate the people. Private boats can also be engaged. Floodwaters at Munduli continue to be in excess of ten lakh cusecs currently.
