Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains due to the influence of the Deep Depression are continuing in Odisha’s five northern districts and the upper catchment areas of river Mahanadi today. Currently the system is active over south Jharkhand, north Odisha and West Bengal bordering areas and is moving in the west-north west direction at a speed of 22 kilometers. It is likely to move in the direction of Jharkhand, North Odisha, North Chhattisgarh towards Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the system, heavy rains have been reported from Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts. The district administrations have ordered for closure of the schools and educational institutions due to the rains.
