Sambalpur: Odisha Development Commissioner Suresh Mahapatra and 5T Secretary VK Pandian today took stock of the level of preparedness to tackle the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Sambalpur district.
The senior officials reviewed the corona pandemic situation and steps taken by the Sambalpur district administration to deal with the COVID-19.
The officials, who reached here after reviewing the COVID-19 preparedness in Kalahandi district, held discussions with Sambalpur Collector Subham Saxena and other district administration officers about the setting up dedicated COVID hospital and isolation facilities in the district. The DIG Sambalpur and SP were also present.
The standalone Odisha Covid Hospital of Govt of Odisha at Sambalpur will have 200 beds including 20 ICUs. It will function from the District Headquarter Hospital.
The Development Commissioner and 5T Secretary visited the hospital and checked the manpower tie up, medicines, ICU facility, isolation wards, etc.
They expressed satisfaction on the progress of work of the standalone Covid Hospital.
They discussed with the DIG about Law & Order in the police range.
The DIG was told to ensure smooth movement of agriculture produce in the agriculturally important districts of Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda and Sonepur.
The DIG was also told to keep a watch on the communal situation.
The senior officials also discussed with the Collector about issues relating to the lockdown, facilitating the agricultural and other activities exempted from the lockdown.
They urged the Collector to ensure that food is served to the destitute and helpless people in the Gram Panchayats and Urban areas.
They also reviewed the implementation of lockdown in the district.
Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Health department to take necessary steps to make corona hospitals operational in all the 30 districts within a week.
