Bhubaneswar: The strike call given by the Driver Ekata Mahasangha today affected communication in various places of Odisha. More than three lakh drivers belonging to 20 associations have given a call for strike with ten point demands. While the private bus owners association and various other associations have not joined the strike, public transport was affected and people remained stranded at various places.
Private bus services were badly hit in all major towns and districts causing inconvenience to common people. In Bhubaneswar, a large number of agitators demonstrated at Lower PMG in support of their demands.
Meanwhile, the police has taken precautionary measures to thwart any untoward incident. The Government has also called upon the drivers associations to hold meetings with it and discuss the various issues.
