New Delhi: Odisha’s daughter of soil Droupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th President of India.
Murmu will succeed Ram Nath Kovind, whose five-year tenure comes to an end on July 24.
NDA candidate Murmu contested the election against the Opposition’s candidate pick Yashwant Sinha.
Murmu has also became the first tribal leader to hold the top constitutional post in the country. She will take oath as the 15th President of India on July 25 at the Parliament House, New Delhi.
