ECI Bans Victory Processions After Counting

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has banned all victory processions on or after the day of counting of votes on May 2nd. An order has been issued to the Chief Electoral Officers of the states where votes would be counted on the 2nd of May in this regard.

In the Order, it says that not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorised representative to receive the certificate of election from the Returning Officer concerned. General Elections were held for the Legislative Assemblies of West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puduchery.

Earlier yesterday, the Madras High Court had came down heavily on the ECI for allowing political rallies during the Covid-19 Pandemic and had said that the ECI is solely responsible for the second wave of Covid-19.
