Bhubaneswar: Considering the rise in cybercrimes, the Electronics & Information Technology (E&IT) Department has issued an advisory on E-Challan scam in public interest.
The E&IT Department urged the people to remain aware of fake links and use only http://echallan.parivahan.gov.in for payment of traffic challans.
How E-Challan Scam Is Done?
• Scammer sends text message (with link) to your phone resembling e-challan alerts
* Upon clicking the link, your phone’s security is compromised
• Scammer gets access to credit/debit card details
• In no time, your bank account is drained
How to Stay Safe:
• Vehicle owners must re-check such messages carefully before clicking
• Cross-check details of your vehicle, its engine and chassis number
• An e-challan alert will never come from a mobile number
• Always go for https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/ for payment
