Puri: In a tragic incident, an elderly couple has committed suicide after being harassed by loan recovery agents. The incident has happened in Anlajodi village of Kanasa Block of Puri district. According to reports, the elderly couple, Banamber Behera (65) and his wife Banita Behera(53), committed suicide today early morning by hanging. Some loan recovery agents had visited their house yesterday and demanded the loan installment which the elderly couple was unable to repay. The agents had also stayed at their house for long time demanding the money.
The couple had taken a loan from a private finance company but could not pay due to financial problems. The agents of the finance company threatened the old couple with dire consequences if the EMI is not paid.
