Balasore: The Sadevkhunta Police in Balasore district has arrested eleven persons in connection with the attack on Balasore Sub-Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan. The Sub-Collector was attacked by the accused yesterday when he was on a drive against illegal sand mining. The driver of the vehicle was also attacked and got injured in the incident.
The officer was attacked by the locals along with the illegal sand miners at Dahapada village and his vehicle was stoned and damaged. While two persons were arrested yesterday, nine more were arrested today morning. The police is carrying out searches to nab the remaining persons involved in the incident. Also, two platoons of police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. A large quantity of illegally mined sand and machines used to extract and transport them have also been seized by the district administration. Steps are being taken to dismantle the illegal brick kilns in the area.
