Puri: The demolition process of the dilapidated Emar Matha near the Singhadwara of Puri will continue today amidst full security.
The authorities had yesterday removed major portions of the building starting with the top most floor. As the process continued till evening, there was anxiety among the people on the hidden chambers found inside the Matha.
The administration has clarified that the underground hidden chambers of the Matha were used as granaries and store rooms. The authorities had also successfully completed the demolition of the Languli Mutt that was also declared unfit.
The district administration has also clarified that there is no secret tunnel found under the Emar Matha. There were some media reports yesterday, that claimed a secret tunnel has been found under the centuries old Matha. Puri ADM has said that only an underground chamber has been found which was being used to store grains by the Matha. He said, the demolition process was peaceful and will continue on Friday.
About 30 platoons of police force and Eight Magistrates were present on the spot.
