Bhubaneswar: A team from Embassy of Israel is on a three-day visit to Odisha to learn about the State Government’s flagship ‘Drink from Tap Mission’, which is being implemented under the 5T initiative to provide 24X7 drink from tap quality water to every household in urban areas in the State.
Led by Dr. Lior Asaf, Water Attache, the team visited Salia Sahi, the largest slum of Odisha, where Drink from Tap mission has been under successful operation since more than two years.
The team interacted with the Jalsaathis and residents and was appreciative on the impact of ‘Drink from Tap Mission’ on the ground.
The Odisha Government has set a target to cover 40 lakh more households in 21 cities and towns under its ‘Drink from Tap’ mission by March 2024.
The State Government has allocated Rs 2,400 crore in the 2023-24 budget for implementation of the Mission.
Puri and Gopalpur have become India’s first two cities to achieve this distinction under the mission.
