Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s focus on basics and continued drive to excel have led to the state earning a rank among the top five states in NITI Aayog’s export preparedness and competitiveness report 2020.
With its continued thrust on improving key parameters such as export promotions policy, infrastructure and trade support, Odisha has been able to rank itself in the top five destinations in export preparedness.
According to the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2020 released today, six coastal states Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Karnataka and Kerala, feature in the top 10 rankings. It indicates Odisha’s strong enabling and facilitating factors to promote exports.
With 58.23 points, Odisha ranks at the fifth spot in the overall category and fourth rank in the Coastal States Category. Odisha has performed well in all the four key parameters i.e., Export Ecosystem Pillar (2) with 65.94 points, Policy Pillar (11) with 71.29 points, Business Ecosystem Pillar (11) with 55.81 points, and Export Performance Pillar (11) with 42.29points.
Odisha’s performance in export of mineral products such as Aluminum Ingots, Ferro-Chromium, Alumina, Iron-ore pellets etc and seafood including shrimps and prawns has helped getting the rankings.
