Bhubaneswar: Adding yet another feather to its cap, the Odisha Government has bagged the prestigious ‘Best State Promoting Sports’ award at the FICCI India Sports Awards 2019.
The awards ceremony was held at the FICCI Federation House in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Odisha has been recognized as Best State for the Promotion of Sport at 9th Global Sports Summit organized by FICCI India,Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal presented the prestigious award to Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera and Sports Secretary Vishal. K. Deb.
Under dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha has emerged as a sports hub, hosting top events in various Olympic disciplines.
The State has successfully hosted the 2018 men’s hockey World Cup, the first two editions of the Hero Super Cup and numerous other sporting events.
The Odisha Government has set an example by launching High Performance Centers in various sports disciplines in a unique partnership models with corporates and eminent sportspersons.
