Berhampur: As many as 19,587 persons including foreign returnees in Ganjam district have completed their home quarantine as instructed by the Odisha Government to fight the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
Around 740 persons who had returned from foreign countries and 18,847 people, who returned from other states, have completed their home quarantine as on April 10, according to Ganjam district administration.
As many as 761 persons had returned from foreign countries. Of them, 21 persons are still in home quarantine.
The district admin had registered a total of 29,250 domestic returnees for home quarantine. Of them, 18,847 persons have completed their home quarantine, while quarantine of 10403 persons is in progress.
Samples of 326 suspected cases have so far been tested and all tested came out negative for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the district admin has also started a three-day mega health screening programme from Thursday as part of its fight the deadly virus.
This door-to-door health screening is being carried out in over 6,000 revenue villages of 22 blocks as well as its 18 urban bodies, including the Berhampur Municipal Corporation area, said Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
Teams consisting three members including an anganwadi worker, a helper and a teacher, have started visiting each and every household to collect information about a family and its members, and their present health condition and travel history.
Nearly 404330 households have so far been covered.
During the screening, as many as 3759 persons having minor cold have been identified. They will be checked up by medical team immediately, an official said.
