Bhubaneswar: Welcoming the Odisha Government’s decision to make wearing face masks mandatory for people in public places to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the petrol pumps across the State have decided not to sell fuels to the customers not wearing masks.
The Utkal Petroleum Dealers Association will strictly enforce the government’s order, informed the association’s general secretary Sanjay Lath.
The fuel stations across the State will not sell petrol, diesel, CNG to customers not wearing masks.
There are about 1600 fuel outlets across Odisha.
“The decision has been taken to ensure that people follow the government’s guidelines”, Utkal Petroleum Dealers Association said.
The filling station owners have been urged to strictly adhere to the social distancing norm in their outlets, Lath added.
The State Government has made it mandatory for the citizens to wear masks while stepping out of homes. It has also decided to impose fines on the violators, Rs 200 for the first three offences and Rs 500 on every subsequent violation.
