As per data released by the state government, on Thursday 52,882 tests were carried out in the state taking the total number of tests in the state to cross the 30 lakh mark. While the positivity rate in the state stands at 6.66, the negativity rate in Odisha is 93.34.
Slowly, Odisha is ramping up its testing capacity and in the last 14 days it’s tests per million figure was well above some of the bigger states with high infection rates. Odisha is doing better in testing activities and stands above Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu. With a recovery rate of 81 percent and a fatality rate of just about 0.4 percent, Odisha seems to be on the right path in the fight against Covid-19. Till date, Odisha has reported 752 deaths due to Covid-19 and the fatality rate in the state is one of the lowest in India.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed pleasure over the achievement and said “It gives me immense pleasure to share that we have reached 3 million #COVID19 test milestone. Thank healthcare personnel and all those who are working round the clock to ramp up testing, strengthening #Odisha’s fight against the pandemic. “
