First Lot of Timber for Lord Jagannath’s Chariot Construction Dispatched from Nayagarh

Puri: The first lot of timbers for the construction of chariots for Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra in Puri has been dispatched from Nayagarh district.

As per reports, 104 wooden log pieces were sent from Dasapalla in Nayagarh after a special puja ritual at Mahaveer Temple.

As many as three trucks carrying the logs left for the ‘ratha khala’ where the three giant chariots will be constructed on the Grand Road in the pilgrim city of Puri.

In the first phase, 71 pieces of Asan and 33 pieces of Dhaura wood collected from Cheyapalli and Pokharigocha sections of Daspalla Forest have been sent to Puri, reports added.
