Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the flood situation in various rivers of the state, the Odisha Government has cancelled the leaves and holidays of Government officials in ten districts for a week. Those who are already on leave have been ordered to join their duties immediately.
The state government is keeping a close eye on the flood situation. While 40 gates of the Hirakud Dam have been opened to drain the flood waters, all major rivers in the state are flowing above danger level. According to government sources, Munduli in Cuttack District is currently getting about 12 lakh cusecs of water and the tributaries of Mahanadi are flowing above the danger level. As people in some places are marooned by the flood waters, the government has asked the Collectos of flood affected areas to declare holidays for schools and educational institutions. As the next 48 hours are very crucial, government has cancelled the leaves of government officials in Sambalpur, Subernapur, Boudh, Anugul, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada for seven days.
