New Delhi: Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee passed away here on Monday. He was 84.
The information was announced by his son Abhijit Mukherjee.
“With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India !,” his son tweeted.

The veteran Congress leader had tested positive for COVID-19 and undergone surgery for a brain clot at Army Hospital (R&R) on August 10.
Pranab Mukherjee served as the 13th President of India from 2012 until 2017. In a political career spanning more than five decades, Mukherjee had occupied several ministerial portfolios in the Government of India.
