Bhubaneswar: Director Nilamadhab Panda’s first Odia creation Kalira Atita has been making waves all around from his own state and Bollywood to Hollywood.
Based on the ill effects of climate change, the film portrays how the villages in Satabhaya in Kendrapada are slowly being gobble up by the rising Bay of Bengal. The film comes at a time when the world is slowly limping back to normalcy after the Pandemic.
The entry of the film to the Oscars race in the General Category has come as a gift for the noted director who has already made some acclaimed films and documentaries. Kalira Atita’s entry in the Best Actor, Best Director and many other categories has been cheered by all.
Within days of the announcement, people from all walks are greeting the director for this achievement.
Sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik has all prises for Nilamadhab’s film and he sculpted a lively sand art on the same. In a tweet, Sudarsan said, “Good luck @nilamadhabpanda Ji and entire Team of #KaliraAtita all the very best and hope that the film wins the #Oscar 2021. My SandArt at Puri beach in Odisha.”

The nomination has come as a surprise for many people from round the world who have said that it is just the beginning of the resurgence of Odia cinema.
