Berhampur: Ganjam district has achieved another significant milestone in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic by conducting more than four lakh sample tests since the outbreak of the virus in the district.
As on September 24, the district has tested as many as 400391 samples, one of the highest numbers of tests in Odisha.
The southern district, which had crossed the one lakh testing mark by August 15, has ramped up testing facilities following the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and has achieved the four lakh testing milestone.
The milestone comes on the same day when the district has started the ‘COVID Week’ campaign to create mass awareness among the people on COVID protocols and social distancing norms in a bid to prevent a possible second wave of infection.
“A befitting start to GANJAM COVID WEEK. We have tested more than 4 Lakh samples as on date. Extensive testing will be ensured throughout the COVID WEEK campaign period”, tweeted Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
The overall positivity rate in the district stands at 4.96 per cent and daily positivity rate at 1.69 per cent.
Ganjam has now 237 active cases of coronavirus as 19408 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
