Ganjam Admin Clamps Partial Shutdown

Chatrapur: A day after Odisha reported its highest number of COVID-19 positive cases in a single day, the Ganjam district administration has clamped partial shutdown to prevent the spread of the highly contagious disease.

The district administration has decided to impose complete shutdown after 12 noon to 7 am and no person shall be allowed to come out of his or her home after 12 noon to next day 7 am.

In a notification issued by Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange stated that the police patrolling will be intensified and whoever seems to violate the law will be put into a quarantine facility.

Further if anyone is not following home quarantine, then the person will be shifted to institutional quarantine.

“It is imperative to adopt strict social distancing and isolation measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, which is playing havoc in many countries across the world, including India”, the Collector said.

As per the order, essential service will be available from 7 AM to 12 Noon. Persons will be allowed to purchase essential needs without motor cycle.

Complete shutdown will be imposed after 12 Noon to 7 AM. No person shall be outside home after 12 Noon to Next day 7 AM. No motor cycle will be allowed now at any cost on road, the order said.

Vegetables and grocery will be sold in a decentralized mode and 100% door to door delivery of vegetables and grocery will be made through Thelas or Autowalas in case of ULBs.

For normal health issues no motor cycle will be allowed. Tahasildar and IC will examine in case of Medical Emergency if any arises, it said.

Medicine stores will supply orders over phone. Medicine shops will be selectively allowed. Drug Inspectors and EOs of ULBs will take a call in this regard. Minimum distance between medicine shops will be 100 Mtrs, the order stated.

There will be 100 % tele consultation with closure of OPD. Only emergency ward will operate and all private hospitals should be ready with COVID corner. This needs to be checked by Tahasildars.

Senior citizens those who are coming outside for walking purpose must be shifted to institutional quarantine If they ignore the direction, the order said.

Universal covering of face whoever is outside home and use of mask for indoors too those who are suffering from Flu and are on symptomatic treatment.

The fresh order is issued by the administration after being observed that due to rampant use of two wheelers for purchase of essential commodities by general public and in doing so norms of social distancing along with various guidelines issued by the government are not being adhered to by the people.
