Ganjam: Berhampur Police Arrests 3 Persons in Connection with Puma Nahak Murder

Berhampur: Berhampur Police has arrested three persons in connection with murder of Puma Chandra Nahak of Purusottampur area in Ganjam district.

The accused have been identified as Bhima Behera (29), Sagar Behera (26) and Krushna Behera (50). They are all from Purusottampur.

As per police, there was an enmity between the accused persons and the deceased Puma Nahak in village Rishipur of Purusottampur.
Puma Nahak had previously assaulted the accused persons in the month of June, 2022. From that date the accused persons were searching for an opportunity to murder the deceased.

On 13.9.2022, deceased had to attend the POCSO Court Berhampur related to a previous case where he was arrested.

Accused Bhima Behera was also to attend the same court. As per the previous planning, accused Bhima Behera informed the other accused Persons about the court date and also informed them the deceased Puma Nahak left for Berhampur in his motor cycle alone at about 10.10 A.M. As per the previous planning, the accused Bhima Behera accompanied the another 3 accused persons and chased the deceased from village Rishipur and on the way between Regedi to Gola Chandipadar finding the loneliness obstructed the deceased and assaulted by means of sword on his head and legs at about 11.30 A.M. resulting in severe bleeding injuries and left the spot in two motor cycles by throwing the sword.

After that, the accused Bhima Behera informed the complaint Minati Nayak over mobile that, they had murdered her husband. The deceased was shifted to MKCG medical college and while undergoing treatment he succumbed to the injuries.

The three accused persons are being forwarded the court. The investigation of the case is on progress and the other accused persons will be apprehended soon, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M said in a statement.
