Ganjam: Engineering Student’s Body Recovered near Railway Track, Family Alleges Murder

Berhampur: The body of an engineering student was recovered near a railway track in Haladiapadar area in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Hemant Mallick.

Mallick’s body was found near a railway track one month after he went missing, as per reports.

The family members have alleged that Mallick was murdered.

Mallick, who was from Gajapati district, was working at a Dhaba near Kanisi area under Rangeilunda block in Ganjam district since August this year. He was also doing diploma in civil engineering in Berhampur for the last two year, as per reports.

Mallick went missing on September 11. His brother Sukanta lodged a complaint with the police on September 13 after the family members found Mallick’s mobile phone switched off.

Sukanta alleged that there was a fight between Hemant and another worker of the Dhaba before he went missing.

Sukanta also alleged that his brother was murdered by the owner of the Dhaba and a worker. Hemant’s body was dumped near the railway track to give the impression that Hemant had committed suicide, he alleged.

Meanwhile, the Golanthara police has registered a case and started investigation in the matter.
