Ganjam Fire Mishap: CM Grieves Death of Three Children, Announces Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of three children in a fire mishap in Polasara block in Ganjam district.

The Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the next of the kin of the victims.
Naveen also announced free medical treatment for the injured and wished their speedy recovery.

Earlier today, three out of the four children, who had suffered critical burn injuries in a fire mishap in Khairachata village under Polasara block, succumbed while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

The fire broke out in a paddy yard at the village.

The mishap occurred when the kids, aged between 5 and 7 years, were playing near the paddy yard.

The children were immediately rushed to the CHC at Polasara in critical condition and later shifted to MKCG, according to reports.

Three of them, including a girl succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.
