Berhampur: Bringing laurels to Ganjam district, Hill Patana Girls Upper Primary School has bagged the Odisha Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2019 for cleanliness.
The Berhampur-based school has achieved an overall score of 96% with Green rating.
Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash has given the prestigious award to Hill Patana Girls UPS Headmaster Radhaballav Patnaik at the state level annual children’s festival ‘Suravi’ 2019 held at Unit-IX Boys High School in Bhubaneswar.
In a statement, Patnaik has given all credits to the assistant teachers and technical advisor Niranjan Swain for the achievement.
Cluster resource centre coordinator (CRCC) Kritishree Dash and other teachers of the school felicitated the headmaster for the achievement.
Notably, the Odisha Government has launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar this year to award the schools based on a Star-Rating system for cleanliness initiatives.
The schools which will score between 90 to 100 percent will be rated as Five-Star (Excellent), Four-Star for 75%-89% (Very Good), Three-Star for 51%-74% (Good), Two-Star for 35%-50% (Fair) and One-Star for Below 35% (Poor).
At the Block level the winner will get Rs 2,000, at district level Rs 5,000 and State level the winner will get a cash award of Rs 10,000, the School and Mass Education Department said earlier in a notification.
