Berhampur: A person, who was undergoing treatment after consuming spurious country liquor at Chikiti in Ganjam district, died here on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Zura Behera, a resident of Jenapur village in Chikiti block.
Behera was one of 15 people who got ill after consuming the hooch. He breathed his last at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The condition of two other persons are critical. They are currently under observation in the ICU. Besides, 11 more people are still receiving treatment in the hospital, as per reports.
More than 15 people have fallen seriously ill after consuming spurious liquor in Moundpur village under Chikiti area on Tuesday. After consuming the hooch purchased from a local shop, they started vomiting and their condition suddenly worsened.
Five persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident. The Excise officials seized 55 liters of country liquor, reports added.
