Gopalpur: The beneficiaries of Jaga Mission in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday felicitated Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for enabling them to live a life with dignity on their own land.
The slum-dwellers in Gopalpur port town felicitated the Chief Minister with Shawl and Tamrapatta and expressed their gratitude towards him during his visit to the Jaga Mission site.
The kids were standing proactively with welcome boards in their hands to greet the CM, who visited their streets before inaugurating the Gopalpur Beach Festival 2019.
The Odisha CM was deeply moved by joy and gratitude exhibited by the slum dwellers.
Expressing his feelings, Naveen said that the joy and gratitude exhibited by slum-dwellers, on being able to live a life with dignity on their own land, was both humbling and gratifying”.
Earlier this month, the Jaga Mission, which is acclaimed as the world’s largest slum land titling project, had won the World Habitat Award for granting land rights to thousands of slum dwellers in urban areas in the State.
Notably, Naveen had launched the Mission in May last year from Ganjam district with an aim to transform the slums into liveable habitat with all necessary civic infrastructure and services.
