Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Jagadish Ku Sahu, JE, Purusottampur Block along with Surjya Narayan Swain, GRS Jaganathpur of the same block in Ganjam district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from a contractor for facilitating release of pending bills in connection with work executed under MGNREG scheme.
Jagadish Sahu was nabbed by the vigilance team today when he accepted the bribe money from the contractor and handed over the same to Swain for counting inside the Block premises, the Vigilance said.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the GRS and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations of Sahu from DA angle.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No. 03/23 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against both the accused persons.
Investigation is in progress against both Sahu and Swain, the Vigilance added.
