Ganjam Starts D2D ‘Oxygen Checking Campaign’ to Prevent Possible Second Wave of COVID-19 Infection

Berhampur: The Ganjam administration today started the door-to-door ‘Oxygen Checking Campaign’ throughout the district in order to prevent a possible second wave of COVID-19 infection in the district.

The campaign is being organized in all blocks, NACs and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area, informed Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.

“Our frontline COVID warriors are ensuring early detection and timely referral of suspected cases from the field”, he added.

The screening team consisting of ANMs, ASHAs, AWWs and a teacher will visit each household and conduct oxygen saturation level (SpO2) screening and check for breathing difficulty and other co-morbidities.

Persons with very low SpO2 levels (below 92%) will be immediately referred to the Dedicated COVID Hospital (Tata COVID Hospital, Ashwini COVID Hospital or MKCG COVID Hospital), the district administration said.

Similarly, persons with SpO2 levels between 92-95% will be referred to the Dedicated COVID Health Centre (DCHC).

COVID-19 tests for these suspected cases will be done only at the DCH/DCHCs, after admission as per medical advice, it added.

The campaign will continue till September 14.

Ganjam, which has so far achieved over 94 per cent COVID recovery through a slew of proactive measures, is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its zero active case mission.
